Hell

I try to breathe but
smoky air fills my lungs,
the heat surrounds me
holds me
and attacks me,
low yellow light
highlights our
sweat-glistened skin,
I meet your eyes
for ten seconds, and
I can’t inhale,
hotter than humid summers
and scorched desserts
no,
ten seconds
in hell, and we
we caught on fire.
